In 2020 the Company performed the Neil Simon play "I Ought to be in Pictures" in the Tristan Bates theatre at the Actors' Centre in Covent Garden to pay tribute and celebrate the playwright following his recent death.

Vanguard also has a programme of outreach work entitled 'The Home Front Experience', which allows young people to interact with authentic artefacts and participate in role play. This has augmented the work done by teachers in key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum. Additional outreach programmes serve GCSE and "A" Level students and their teachers.
